Amphenol Fiber Systems International (AFSI) is a full service fiber optic company specializing in the fabrication an manufacture of fiber optic connectivity products and systems.  Our commitment to technical excellence makes us an industry leader in proficing sophisticated products and professional technical assistance in the fiber optic industry.  AFSI, located in Allen, Texas, has and will continue to base its strategy on technical and application support, quality assurance, product performance and value.GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  The CMM Programmer - Mechanical Quality Control Inspector is responsible for creating, developing and implementing CMM programs to check complex high precision machined parts using Zeiss Calypso and Brown & Sharp PCDMIS. Essential Functions: Create, develop, edit and implement CMM programs on high precision machined parts using PCDMIS and or Calypso software Audit, implement and revise CMM programs as needed to verify GD & T  (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance) characteristics Maintain and order necessary equipment for CMM stylus system, fixtures and associated equipment for CMMs Ability to set up machined parts on CMM machines Perform precision measurements on machined piece parts while exercising an understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD & T) using calibrated hand tools and ring gages and other standard measuring equipment. Perform layout mechanical inspections from machine shops as necessary. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blue printsRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrated ability to use create, and edit CMM programs using PCDMIS and Calypso. Create engineering drawings that fully document these designs including design models, detailed drawings, and bills-of-materials/parts lists. Interface with product managers, sales/BD, systems engineering and/or customers to understand product requirements and trade-offs. Participate in reviews to discuss, present, and/or brainstorm ideas. Help in project planning by estimating the number of drawings, schedule(s), cost, risk identification, and tooling (or other efforts). Perform the necessary technology, process or material trade studies to meet cost targets. Provide project status feedback to management. Develop and prepare designs, piece part and assembly drawings. Work to satisfy customers and provide operational support.Essential Functions: Conceptualize design solutions to given or stated requirements. 3-D modeling of new designs and layouts in Solid Works. Modeling interfaces, piece parts and purchased components. Analyze required information from precedents, manufacturers’ catalogs, and technical guides for dimensions, tolerances, and drafting standards and practices.
